£20,000 Bet To 'Remain' A Sixcess?

A William Hill customer from South West London who opened a new account to stake £10,000 at odds of 1/3 on a 'Remain' outcome in the EU Referendum, returned sixty six minutes later to stake a further £10,000, bringing his total potential winnings to £6,666.66 for an outlay of £20,000.

'This is the second largest stake so far for 'Remain' ,as we have already taken a £100,000 bet for the same option' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.

'72% of individual bets placed are for 'Leave', but 73% of all stake money gambled is for 'Remain'' added Sharpe. 'We anticipate a record for a political event of £20million or more being gambled on the outcome industry-wide'.

Following the £20,000 stake, Hills have shortened 'Remain' odds to 3/10.

And there was another Referendum market move as Hills cut their odds for a voter turnout of 68% or more from 13/8 to 6/4, and lengthened Under 68% from 4/9 to 1/2.
