13/5 England To Leave + Scotland Remain

BOOKMAKERS William Hill are offering odds of 13/5 (27% chance) that England will vote 'Leave' in the EU Referendum while Scotland votes 'Remain'.

Hills quote odds of 2/7 that England will opt to 'Remain', and 5/2 to vote 'Leave'; but in Scotland they are 1/33 'Remain', 10/1 Leave; while for Wales Hills go 1/4 'Remain', 11/4 'Leave'.

In the overall market, William Hill have shortened their odds for an overall 'Remain' outcome, from 2/7 (77%) to 1/4 (80%), with 'Leave' drifting slightly from 11/4  (26%) to 3/1 (25%). 'The most notable feature of the betting is that the huge majority of the money staked – 73% - has been gambled on 'Remain' - but an almost equally huge percentage of individual bets taken – 71% -have been for 'Leave'. ' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe, 'But, of course, the London-based lady who has bet £100,000 on 'Remain' will only have one vote – the same as the London-based man who has bet £1 on 'Leave'.'

Hills expect betting turnover to increase as Referendum day approaches: 'William Hill took £3.25m on the Scottish Referendum, and we are on course to match or beat that figure, and anticipate that up to £20m will be gambled industry-wide' added Sharpe.
