£10m EU Ref Gamble
AN £18,000 bet on 'Remain' winning the EU Referendum by a William Hill customer from South West London, and another of £5500 from a Birmimgham based client, both struck at odds of 1/6 are the biggest placed this week on that option, while another Hill client has channelled £4000 of his resources towards a Brexit vote. The customer, based in Guernsey, stands to make a profit of £16,000 if the bet, struck at odds of 4/1 proves successful.
A Halifax man stands to win £27,500 from Hills from a £2000 double, coupling Brexit with Donald Trump to become US President.
'The EU Referendum betting market is stepping up a gear as the countdown to June 23 begins' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.'With a £100,000 bet from a woman in central London also already in the mix we are predicting that over £10million will be gambled on the outcome industry-wide.'
'These latest four and five figure wagers on either side mean that although some 65% of all individual bets are for 'Leave', over 80% of all stake money is on 'Remain' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
