You Bet Joseph Will Be A Trainer

More than a month ago, William Hill put out odds that suggested Joseph O’Brien would become a trainer and following the news that he will be training point-to-point horses during the Winter, William Hill are 1/10 that Joseph O’Brien trains a National Hunt winner for JP McManus in 2016.

A month ago, the prices for Joseph training a winner for JP next year collapsed from 1/3 to 1/6 to 1/10 with William Hill (the only firm offering a market). The ‘Not To Train a JP McManus winner in 2016’ price drifted from 9/4 to 7/2 to 5/1.

“Training point-to-pointers is just the start for Joseph O’Brien and we think he’s nailed-on to have a full National Hunt licence next year,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke. “And we think the first man knocking on the door will be JP McManus.”

It’s 8-1 with William Hill that Joseph O’Brien trains a Cheltenham Festival winner by the end of the 2017 meeting – a very realistic target for a man with such a strong understanding of horses.

“The Cheltenham Festival is the pinnacle of National Hunt racing and we think there’s a good chance Joseph O’Brien could be in the winners’ enclosure in the near future,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.
