World Cup: India firming to beat Australia

Australia’s dominance of India during the summer isn’t deterring punters from backing the visitors to prevail in tomorrow’s World Cup semi-final at the SCG.

India has been supported from $3.25 into $3 at bookmaker, forcing Australia’s odds from $1.35 to $1.40.

“You’d expect it to be the other way around but we’re holding twice as much money for India compared to Australia,” said William Hill’s Andrew Brown.

“The Aussies might have the mental edge but India is undefeated and punters believe the team is peaking at the right time.”

Odds of $6 are still available for India to win the tournament. Australia remains a $2 favourite ahead of New Zealand at $2.50.
