William Hill's winter weather wager

Don’t think Australia’s ‘arctic vortex’ is as chilly as people think? Now you can bet on it.

Each morning, WilliamHill.com.au opens a market as to what the highest daily temperature observations will be at locations in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane courtesy of the Bureau of Meteorology.

Punters then have the choice of betting on whether it will be over or under the mark set by the online bookmaker.

“Being the middle of winter, we assumed interest in weather markets could be a little cold, but it turns out that people are really warming to them,” William Hill’s Tim Ashworth said.

The market opens each morning for a few hours before closing at 10:30am AEST.
