William Hill out to Beat Gleneagles

At the 48-hour stage for the 2000 Guineas, William Hill think the hype around Gleneagles appears to be dissipating and have eased the favourite out to a top price of 11-4 from 5-2.

“The way the betting market is shaping up, it’s unlikely that Gleneagles will shorten considerably between now and race time. It is a very open Guineas and while there might be a star waiting to sparkle, there’s growing confidence that the bookies can get the long-time favourite beaten,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

One horse who could put down the challenge to Gleneagles is stablemate Ol’ Man River, who has shortened from 14-1 to 6-1 in just a week, while Territories has also been supported in from 8-1 to 6-1. Elm Park is one of the weaker horses in the betting and is attracting little interest at 10-1.
