William Hill Continues In-Play Service in Australia
William Hill has received formal confirmation that the Australian Federal Police will not be investigating the complaints referred to it by the Australian Communication and Media Authority regarding its ‘In-Play’ product that allows customers to bet live during a game with just a few taps.
Commenting on the announcement CEO James Henderson said: “William Hill Australia launched this innovative in-play product to meet the demands of Australian sports betting customers. Obviously, I'm pleased that the AFP have decided not to progress an investigation of our product, which means William Hill Australia can to continue to provide our customers with a differentiated product offering in what is a key market for the Group."
William Hill Australia CEO Tom Waterhouse said: “This is a great outcome for Australian punters who will no longer be forced to bet In-Play via illegal offshore bookmakers which pose a huge threat to both consumer protection and the integrity of Australian sport.”
William Hill one of the largest betting companies in the world, takes its compliance and regulatory requirements extremely seriously. Throughout the development and before launching In-Play, William Hill took prudent steps to ensure In-Play is a ‘telephone betting service’ that is 100% legal and compliant under the Interactive Gambling Act.
