Will Sydney's 2yo Triple Crown be won this year?

Bookie is offering odds of $31 for a horse to win Sydney’s 2yo Triple Crown (Golden Slipper, Sires Produce and Champagne Stakes) this year.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained Pierro was the last horse to win the 2yo Triple Crown, becoming just the sixth juvenile in history to achieve the feat when claiming all three races in 2012.

“Gai is the most likely favourite to win it again this year with Vancouver,” said William Hill’s Andrew Brown.

“Even though Vancouver currently sits behind Headwater in our Golden Slipper and Sires market, he does look the one more likely to appreciate the 1600m at Randwick.”

Headwater is $4 at William Hill for the Golden Slipper and $5.50 for the Sires Produce Stakes, while Vancouver is the $6.50 second pick for both the Slipper and the Sires.

“I guess we can’t rule out this Saturday’s William Hill Blue Diamond favourite Fontiton either but that would be a monumental effort.”
