Will Rooney Break Record Against Switzerland?

Another comfortable qualifying victory for England sees them through to Euro 2016 but Wayne Rooney was unable to hit the big 5-0 meaning he is currently tied as the top scorer with Sir Bobby Charlton. He is 10/11 to score anytime against Switzerland and break the record.

Such was the hysteria surrounding Rooney before today’s game, 55% of all first goalscorer wagers were on him – which, despite him missing out on the big target saw a lot of happy punters.

Not only is Rooney tied with Bobby Charlton on 49 goals for England, he is also tied with “own goals” and he is just 1/12 to reach the half century first.

The biggest bet on 6-0 was £500 at 11/2 netting the gutsy punter £3250.

Total Rooney England goals before retirement: 3/1 55 or fewer; 8/1 56-57; 6/1 58-59; 5/1 60-61; 5/1 62-63; 7/4 64 or more

Who will hit 50 first – Rooney or Own Goals: 1/12 Rooney; 6/1 own goals
