Well-Backed Thunder Wins Lockinge

After winning the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes at Newbury, Night Of Thunder has shortened for the Queen Anne Stakes to 5-1 from 7-1 with William Hill.

Additionally, the runner-up Toormore, also trained by Richard Hannon, has been narrowed by William Hill to 8-1 from 14-1.

It further enhances Richard Hannon’s ammunition for the season’s top Mile races and William Hill offer 3-1 that the Champion trainer wins the Queen Anne Stakes.

“Richard Hannon appears to have some strong horses for the mile division, with Night Of Thunder leading the attack,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

It was yet another bad result for the bookies on a tough Saturday for the layers.

“This is definitely a day for punters,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke. “There have been a lot of multiples on Ryan Moore and to compound the misery the best-backed horse of the day has won the big race.”
