US Open: European Players Backed

The choice of Chambers Bay as the venue for the US Open has seen a move for European players to win the second major of the year and it is 2/1 that the trophy crosses the pond. With such a difficult venue many of the outsiders are being backed including Graeme McDowell at 125/1 and Colin Montgomerie at 500/1.

Rory Mcllroy is proving particularly popular at 8/1 – whilst the 18/1 for both Mickelson & Rose is unlikely to last. Rickie Fowler proved he has the game for links golf at Royal St George’s and is offered at 22/1.

“It looks a very open contest and we have seen money for just about every competitor other than Tiger Woods,” said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.
