Treve Could Go Odds-On For Arc

Treve is 3-1 with William Hill to win the Prix Vermeille and the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. The superstar mare has been in commanding form in two starts this year and heads in to this weekend’s Vermeille, bidding for a better result than in last year’s renewal where she was turned over as odds-on favourite.

“Treve is in better form than at this stage last year and she is firmly the one to beat in the Vermeille,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

This time round, William Hill price Treve as 4-9 favourite, with the much improved Arabian Queen, who defeated Golden Horn in the Juddmonte International at York, the 5-1 second-favourite.

The shape of this year’s Arc market could be heavily affected by this weekend’s results, in both Ireland and France. Golden Horn is 15-8 with William Hill for the Irish Champion Stakes, but faces tough opposition from the likes of 3-1 Free Eagle and 5-1 Gleneagles.

“This weekend’s results will shape the Arc market. If Treve wins impressively, but Golden Horn is defeated, it is quite possible that Treve could go odds-on to win a third Arc,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.
