Tory Gamble Slashes Largest Party Odds
WILLIAM HILL have slashed the odds about the Conservatives emerging as the largest single Party at the General Election from 4/7 to 4/9 (stake £9 to win £4) after a sustained gamble on this outcome showed few signs of subsiding.
'All of the usually shread and well-informed political punters on our books seem to be piling in on the Tories to be the largest Party - probably relying on the SNP depriving Labour of seats which might otherwise make it very close between the 'big two'' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
One William Hill client has led the way by gamblong £85,000 that the Tories will win more seats than Labour or any other Party at the General Election - and he currently stands to collect £153,000 as a result, if his hunch proves correct.
The customer placed a series of bets, culminating in a £20,000 stake this week,on his chosen Election outcome, bringing his total stake to £85,000 after first placing a relatively modest £2000 last May, when the odds were at 6/5.
However, even though his two gambles total over £100,000, they are not the biggest Hills have taken on what will be the biggest betting General Election ever - as another client has bet £200,000 on a Hung Parliament at odds of 2/9, standing to make a profit of £44,444.
'We still have weeks to go and already the betting on this General Election has broken virtually every previous long-standing record' added Sharpe.
