Tight Between Top Three for Lockinge

After the five day declaration stage for the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes, William Hill make Night Of Thunder a narrow 11-4 favourite, from Karakontie at 4-1 and Integral at 5-1. Those three horses dominate a competitive renewal of the race, with the rest of the field priced at 10-1 or bigger.

Night Of Thunder was last seen at Ascot in October, when narrowly failing to add the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes to his Classic win in the 2000 Guineas. Karakontie has three wins at the highest level, including the Breeders’ Cup Mile and runs in the famous colours of the Niarchos family. Integral is third in the betting and will receive 3lbs from the males, after mopping up many of the top filly and mare contests last season.

And Integral is the worst result for William Hill.

“We’ve shortened Integral from 8-1 to 5-1 over the past week and we have taken more bets on her than any other horse. At this stage she looks the worst result, but it is very competitive between the top three in the betting,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.
