Tea Favourite as 21 Entered for Lanzarote

The Nick Williams-trained Tea For Two is the 6-1 favourite with sponsors William Hill for this weekend’s Lanzarote Hurdle at Kempton Park, with 21 entries at the five-day stage. The Devon-based trainer has won the feature 2m5f Handicap Hurdle twice in the last four years, with James De Vassey in 2011 and Swincombe Flame in 2012.

“We’ve got the greatest respect for anything Nick Williams sends forward for the Lanzarote. Tea For Two has great potential and has been well-backed in previous races, going off as favourite in four of his seven starts,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke. “It’s a strong set of entries and it looks like it will be a very competitive renewal.”

Last year’s winning trainer Paul Nicholls has entered Lac Fontana (14-1), in his bid to follow Saphir Du Rheu’s victory in the 2014 renewal. Nicky Henderson renews rivalries with the potential trio of Hammersly Lake (8-1), Dawalan (9-1) and Royal Irish Hussar (16-1).

Other prominent horses in the betting include Charlie Longsdon’s Kilcooley, who qualifies as the highest-rated horse after running all over his rivals at Haydock last time and has gone up a massive 18lbs for that victory. He’s 8-1 in the market, along with Warrantor for Warren Greatrex, who is looking for a hat-trick after wins at Chepstow and Market Rasen.
