Stan’s The Man As Bookies Celebrate Djokovic Downfall

Just 9% of all bets in the French Open winner were for Stan Wawrinka at William Hill such was the unlikely chance that he would overcome his pre-tournament odds of 25/1. In the final, however, there was pretty much an even split of bets on both Djokovic and Wawrinka to win.

“Djokovic was our worst result in the whole tournament, so on a weekend where Frankie has won the Derby, Barca have won the Champions League and Serena the women’s final we have to be thankful for small mercies,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.

Wawrinka is 8/1 to defend his title next year, with Novak Djokovic the 4/5 favourite.

Rafa Nadal is 3/1 with Murray the same price as Wawrinka.
