Sprinter Favourite To Regain Crown

Sprinter Sacre is the 5-2 favourite with William Hill for the Queen Mother Champion Chase as he bids to regain the two-mile crown at Cheltenham on Wednesday, but it’s a tight market in behind, with last year’s winner Sire De Grugy leading the pack at 3-1.

Dodging Bullets carries great form this year, including a win in the Clarence House Chase at Ascot and is 5-1 for trainer Paul Nicholls, while Champagne Fever is a big price at 11-2 for a horse that was so nearly a three time Festival winner, but for an agonising defeat by a head in last year’s Arkle.

Sprinter Sacre is incredibly well-backed and has only failed to start favourite in two of his 18 starts – with William Hill predicting he will go off favourite again.

“Sprinter Sacre could be the worst individual result of the Festival for bookmakers, with punters splashing their cash as he eyes the Champion Chase crown,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.
