Small But Super Chase

The Desert Orchid Chase may have attracted just five runners, but it is a select field. The market is led by Sprinter Sacre at 4-7 and the former Champion Chaser is the one to beat after a stylish win in the Schloer Chase at Cheltenham last time.

Sire De Grugy also has his name etched in Cheltenham history in the two mile division and he represents the biggest danger at 3-1. Gary Moore’s jumper won the Tingle Creek at Sandown most recently. Vibrato Valtat finished third in the same race and is next in the betting at 7-1.

The line-up is completed by veteran Somersby at 12-1 and Tom George’s improving Sir Valentino.

“It’s not every week you see two Champion Chase winner’s taking each other on and it could be quite the battle,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke. Desert Orchid Chase: 4-7 Sprinter Sacre, 3-1 Sire De Grugy, 7-1 Vibrato Valtat, 12-1 Somersby, 33-1 Sir Valentino, (EW ¼ Odds Places 1,2)
