Scilly Winner Shortens for Cheltenham
The Willie Mullins-trained mare Gitane Du Berlais landed the Scilly Isles Novices’ Steeple Chase at Sandown and has shortened across the Cheltenham markets. William Hill offer a new quote for the winner of 14-1 to win ANY race at the Cheltenham Festival, while she is 16-1 from 33-1 for the JLT Novices’ Chase, for which stablemate Vautour is the current 3-1 favourite.
Gitane Du Berlais is also 20-1 from 33-1 for the Arkle and 16-1 from 40-1 for the RSA Chase.
Irish Saint has been eased slightly to 20-1 from 16-1, having initially been unchanged with William Hill after the race, while Splash Of Ginge was tailed off and is out to 33-1 for the JLT from 25-1.
“Gitane Du Berlais has run well to beat some useful novices and although the yard have some great options for the Festival, she would have claims in whichever race she is aimed at,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.
Earlier on the card, William Hill made changes to a range of their antepost hurdle markets after Garde La Victoire landed the Listed hurdle, fighting off Jollyallan at the finish, with Bristol De Mai a disappointing third.
William Hill reacted to the race, making Garde La Victoire 50-1 from 66-1 for the Champion Hurdle, Jollyallan was trimmed to 14-1 from 16-1 for the Neptune and 16-1 from 20-1 for the Supreme, while Bristol De Mai was heavily eased to 14-1 from 8-1 for the Triumph.
“It was a disappointing effort from Bristol De Mai and Peace And Co now looks the clear number one for the owners,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.
