Rugby World Cup: Burgess Odds-On For Final Squad

Sam Burgess is odds-on with bookmakers William Hill to be included in England’s final squad for the Rugby World Cup, after making it on to Stuart Lancaster’s 50-man shortlist.

William Hill offer odds of 2/5 that Burgess is one of the names included in the squad of 31 players, while it is 7/4 that he isn’t part of the final team for the World Cup.

“It finally looks like the switch of codes might pay off for Sam Burgess,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Meanwhile, in the outright market, William Hill are just 1/8 to make it to the quarter finals or beyond and 7/2 to go on and lift the Webb Ellis Cup.

“New Zealand are strong favourites but the betting suggests if there is one team in the world who could challenge the All Blacks, it is England,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.
