Rugby Girlfriend Miss Scotland Hoping For A Winner

With the Rugby World Cup kicking off you might wonder what the rugger WAGs will be doing. One of them, Mhairi Fergusson, girlfriend of Scotland’s Finn Russell will be raising money for charity this weekend.

The newly crowned Miss Scotland will be trying to pick the winner of Scotland’s biggest and richest Flat race, The William Hill Ayr Gold Cup, and in the process is hoping to bag some cash for the Muir Maxwell Trust.

It takes place on Saturday (19th September) at 3.45pm and features 25 of Europe’s best sprint horses in an adrenaline fuelled dash to the finish, hoping to win £180,000 in prize money.

William Hill have given a £100 each-way charity bet on the race to both Miss Scotland and football pundit Robbie Savage.

Miss Scotland has selected Majestic Moon at odds of 20/1 with William Hill – if he wins it will make £2500 for her chosen charity, the Muir Maxwell Trust. As an epilepsy sufferer, Mhairi is keen to raise awareness of all the good work that the charity do.

Mhairi chose Majestic Moon, because he runs from Stall 16.

“I’m really looking forward to the race and I’ve gone for Majestic Moon because 16 is my lucky number!”

Robbie Savage has gone for Don’t Touch, at odds of 8/1, which returns £1000 for the Alzheimer’s Society if it wins.

Robbie Savage: “Trainer Richard Fahey is a friend of mine and he reckons his horse Don’t Touch is the one to beat.”
