Rooney Odds On To End Goalscoring Drought Against Newcastle

By failing to hit the net against Club Brugge, Wayne Rooney took his goalless tally to nine matches for Manchester United although he is odds on to bag at the 10th time of asking. He is 5/6 to score against Newcastle this weekend. Should he fail to do so, he is 10/3 to end his current drought in United’s return leg in Belgium.

“Rooney has been pushed into a more attacking position but is still struggling to find the net,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “Having said that, he loves scoring against Newcastle and is odds on to do so again this weekend.”

Rooney is 12/1 fourth favourite to be the Premier League’s top goalscorer behind Sergio Aguero at 9/4, Diego Costa at 9/1 and Christian Benteke at 10/1.

When will Wayne Rooney next score for Machester United: 5/6 Newcastle (22/08); 10/3 Club Brugge (26/08); 9/2 Swansea (30/08); 15/2 Liverpool (12/09); 5/1 not score in any of these matches
