Robbie Savage And Miss Scotland Going For Gold!

Football pundit Robbie Savage and the newly crowned Miss Scotland, Mhairi Fergusson, were the star turns at the live draw for the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup today.

The celebrity pair helped with the live event where racehorse trainers choose the position their horses will race from in Saturday’s William Hill Ayr Gold Cup, worth a whopping £180,000 in prize money. It’s the richest Flat race in Scotland.

William Hill have donated a free £100 each-way charity bet on the race to both Miss Scotland and Robbie Savage.

Mhairi, who is the girlfriend of Scotland rugby ace Finn Russell said: “I love horses and my lucky number is 16 so I’m going for Majestic Moon!”

Majestic Moon will be running from stall number 16.

Mhairi suffers from epilepsy and campaigns hard to raise awareness through her work for the Muir Maxwell Trust – Majestic Moon is 20/1 with William Hill – if he wins it will make £2500 for her chosen charity.

Robbie Savage has gone for the favourite, Don’t Touch, at odds of 8/1 and if he is successful, it would return £1000 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Robbie Savage said: “The trainer of Don’t Touch, Richard Fahey, tells me he thinks it will win so I hope he’s right!”

The William Hill Ayr Gold Cup takes place this Saturday (19th September) at Ayr Racecourse.

“The William Hill Ayr Gold Cup is the biggest Flat race in Scotland and hopefully Miss Scotland and Robbie Savage will be able to raise plenty of money for their chosen charities,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.
