Rio Wins Our Customer £25K

Rio Quattro was a superb winner of the William Hill Greyhound Derby on Saturday night, scooping a cheque of £250,000 for owner/trainer Danny Riordan. The winner's cheque was the richest prize ever in the history of greyhound racing.

Rio Quattro started at a price of 5/1, with Farloe Blitz the 8/11 odds-on favourite. If the favourite had won it would have cost Britain's biggest bookmaker in excess of £200,000. Despite Farloe Blitz starting well and leading to the half way point in the one lap Wimbledon race, Rio Quattro surged past on the inside up the back straight and  could not be caught.

The biggest win from an individual customer was a £300 each-way bet at odds of 66/1 placed in a St Helens shop. The winning customer landed returns of just over £25k!

"One of our customers could be taking a luxury trip to Rio courtesy of Quattro's win after winning 25 grand!" said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.
