Red Baron Favourite to Fly in Scottish Sprint Cup

Red Baron is the sponsor’s 6-1 favourite for the William Hill Scottish Sprint Cup that takes place at Musselburgh this weekend.

The Eric Alston-trained six-year-old was a narrow second behind Monsieur Joe in the Spring Sprint at York last month. Red Baron has been in great form, not finishing out of the front two spots in his last five starts. He’s also started favourite for three of those five runs.

“Red Baron certainly isn’t swooping under William Hill’s radar and could well be a popular favourite at the weekend,” said firm spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Distant Past is unbeaten in two starts at the Scottish venue and is the 7-1 second-favourite for trainer Kevin Ryan, meanwhile last year’s winner Demora is back to defend her title for trainer Michael Appleby and is one of four horses priced at 10-1.

The fixture is already sold out and promises to be a thrilling occasion with £100,000 up for grabs in the feature race.
