Punters prefer Rupee over Chautauqua

The world’s equal top ranked sprinter, Lankan Rupee, is attracting heavy support for Saturday’s Lexus Newmarket Handicap at Flemington.

On Super Saturday eve, Bookmaker trimmed Lankan Rupee’s price from $3.50 into $3.40, while favourite Chautauqua eased from $2.90 to $3.10.

“We’re holding five times more money for Lankan Rupee compared to Chautauqua,” said William Hill’s Andrew Brown.

“Lankan Rupee has attracted 8 of the top 10 biggest bets we’ve taken on the race and if the cash continues to pour in like this, he’ll be starting the favourite.”

Brazen Beau is the only other firmer, shortening from $5 into $4.80 at William Hill, while Terravista has eased from $5 to $5.50.
