Punters Pedal On Quintana For Glory

William Hill have currently taken more bets on Nairo Quintana winning this year’s Tour De France than any other cyclist.

Britain’s biggest bookmaker hold their biggest liability on 11-5 second-favourite Nairo Quintana, the talented Colombian who finished runner-up in 2013 but skipped the 2014 Tour.

“Nairo Quintana is the most popular selection among punters so far, but we expect a wave of bets on Chris Froome over the coming week. He is likely to be the worst result for the bookmakers by next Saturday,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Chris Froome is the bookie’s favourite at 2-1, while Alberto Contador is third in the list at 10-3 and last year’s winner Vincenzo Nibali is at 4-1.

The biggest bet on this year’s Tour De France is a £1400 wager on Chris Froome at odds of 9-4, which would return £4550 should he win.
