Punter Bets Big on Djokovic

One William Hill customer is staking big on Novak Djokovic winning the French Open. The regular customer strolled in to a London shop and casually placed £9000 on the Serbian server. Initially, the customer had £5k at odds of 4/5, before topping up his bet with a further £4k at odds of 8/11.

“Djokovic is odds-on to lift the French Open title, but this high-roller will be cheering him on more than most,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Djokovic is the 8/11 favourite to win the French Open, with Rafa Nadal the 11/4 second-favourite and Andy Murray third in the betting at 8/1.

In the Women’s Draw, Serena Williams is the 11/4 favourite to win the trophy, while Maria Sharapova and Simona Halep are the nearest challengers in the betting at 9/2.

“Serena Williams is the one they all have to beat, but the likes of Maria Sharapova and Simona Halep will be expected to push her all the way,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.
