Professor The Clever Pick For Punters?

Professor is the biggest mover ahead of this Saturday’s Challenge Cup at Ascot, with William Hill more than halving his odds from 33-1 to 16-1. Michael Attwater’s horse didn’t get the clearest of runs in the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup last time and the step-up in trip to 7f may suit him better.

“Professor is being well-backed for the Challenge Cup – maybe he’ll teach his rivals a lesson?” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Buckstay is the 6-1 favourite (from 7-1) after a strong finishing fifth in the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup, with Andrew Balding’s Make It Up also supported at the front end of the market from 10-1 to 8-1.

In the Sun Chariot, Esoterique is the 11-8 favourite after a very good win at Deauville last time out. Integral is next in the list at 4-1 and at this stage the momentum in the betting is behind last year’s winner of the race.
