Is Farage Under Pressure?

FOLLOWING the Oldham W/Royton by-election result, William Hill have lengthened their odds for Jeremy Corbyn to stand down this year from 5/1 to 8/1, but shortened the odds for Nigel Farage NOT to lead Ukip into the next General Election from 3/1 to 9/4.

'The by election result has been presented as a boost for Corbyn, but a failure for Farage, and that is reflected in our odds about the pair's chances of remaining as leaders of their respective parties' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.

However, the relief for Corbyn could be short-lived and Hill's believe that 2016 is the most likely year for him to lose his job as leader and quote that as a 5/4 chance.

Hilary Benn is waiting in the wings to succeed Corbyn should things go wrong, and he was cut from 8/1 to 2/1 favourite by Hills to be the next elected Labour leader, following the by-election. Jim McMahon, who won the by-election for Labour is 20/1 with Hills ever to be Leader of the Party.

Meanwhile, Nigel Farage seems to be pinning his long-term hopes on helping to win a 'Leave' vote in the forthcoming EU Referendum, which is currently a 7/4 chance. But with the date of the Referendum still to be confirmed, Hills are offering 8/1 that it will not be held before July 2017.
