Poyet Pays For Poor Showing… Sunderland Fans To Toast Advocaat?

Dick Advocaat is the 2/1 favourite to be installed as the next permanent manager of Sunderland after Gus Poyet’s unsurprising sacking on Monday. The former Rangers boss heads a field packed with names including Sam Allardyce at 7/1, Harry Redknapp and Michael Laudrup at 10/1 and the North East based Steve McClaren and Aitor Karanka both offered at 12/1.

“Poyet’s odds tumbled to 1/4 for the boot after his side’s awful showing against Aston Villa and when Seb Larsson entered the field six minutes after the second half started, the writing was on the wall,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “Dick Advocaat is the favourite to take over but there are a number of potentials all in the running.”
