Political punters think it's all over, no overall!
100 DAYS TO GO TO ELECTION- BUT PUNTERS THINK IT'S ALL OVER - NO OVERALL MAJORITY A CERT!
AS THE countdown to the General Election reaches the 100 day stage, bookmakers William Hill have again shortened their odds for it to end up with no single Party gaining an overall majority after political punters forced the odds of that happening down from an opening 6/4 to a current price of 3/10. 'We have taken a string of four and five figure bets for no overall majority, which have caused the odds to shrink dramatically since we opened the book' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
One Hill's client from Devon has staked a total of £23,000, and stands to collect over £51,000; while a London-based customer staked £5500 on the outcome on Monday, hoping to receive £7500 back.
'With one hundred days until polling day, the General Election has turned into a political Grand National with a dozen possible outcomes, and an eight figure sum riding on who will be the biggest Party and how the make-up of the next government will turn out.The one absolute certainty is that this will be the biggest betting General Election ever with over £10m gambled' added Sharpe.
