Political Punters Pick Burnham For Leader

ANDY BURNHAM has proved the most popular choice to be Labour leader with political gamblers, according to bookmakers William Hill, who say 38% of the bets they have taken so far have been for him - and he is currently Hill's 8/11 favourite.

Yvette Cooper has attracted 28% of bets and is 11/4 second favourite with Hills, who say 22% of bets have been for 6/1 third favourite Liz Kendall, with Jeremy Corbyn, 7/1 outsider, the subject of 12% of the bets struck on the four contenders.

Tom Watson is 8/11 favourite with Hills to become Deputy Leader. Caroline Flint is 9/4 second favourite, with Stella Creasy at 4/1; Angela Eagle 12/1 and Ben Bradshaw 25/1 outsider of the field.

**With Burnham and Watson favourites for the two roles, Hills offer 11/8 that both will be won by males; 2/1 that the Party votes in a male leader but female deputy; 10/3 vice versa; and 9/2 females in both jobs.
