Political Punters Betting Cameron Can Prepare For Government

POLITICAL PUNTERS are betting that David Cameron will lead the Tories back into government as the late money goes on in the General Election campaign, say bookmakers William Hill, as the odds for the PM still to be in No 10 on August 1 have been slashed from 6/4 (stake £4 to make £6 profit) to Even money (stake £1 to make £1 profit) and three of the four favourite Election outcomes involve the Conservatives.

'The change in betting emphasis started after the Thursday debates, and there is now a real momentum behind the Conservatives in the betting market as Cameron is being overwhelmingly backed to be PM with fivers, tenners, scores, hundreds and grands, while political punters' only doubt seems to be which variety of government the Tories will be involved in - a repeat of the current coalition is 7/2, with a Tory minority government at 4/1 and a Tory majority in to 6/1 from 8/1' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.'We are anticipating a late flurry of betting on the Election and a record General Election turnover in excess of £20million is on the cards - or ballot papers- justifying us dubbing it the first Political Grand National!'
