Political Punters Back Yvette To Be Labour Leader

YVETTE COOPER has edged even closer to favouritism to be the next Labour leader as bookmakers William Hill shortened her odds for the FIFTH time in the last fortnight.

'Ms Cooper was a 7/2 (bet £2 for profit of £7) chance to win the Labour leadership race on June 9, and was third favourite behind Andy Burnham and Liz Kendall. Since then over two thirds of the bets we have taken have been for Yvette, and she is now 6/4 second favourite (bet £2 for a profit of £3) while the money for Andy Burnham, who stole the early momentum by being the first to declare himself a runner, and for Liz Kendall, has almost dried up.We expect to see Ms Cooper become clear favourite within days' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
