Pharoah Favourite For Preakness

William Hill have released their first market on the Preakness Stakes and Kentucky Derby winner American Pharoah is the 4-7 favourite. The Bob Baffert-trained colt ran down his rivals at Churchill Downs and looks to have leading claims to follow up when the Triple Crown chaser heads to Baltimore.

The runner-up in Kentucky, Firing Line, is the 9-2 second-favourite with William Hill while the third home, Dortmund, is next in the list at 6-1. Danzig Moon was fifth in the Kentucky Derby and is a 20-1 outshot for the Preakness.

“Historically the horse who wins the Kentucky Derby is well-backed for the Preakness and American Pharoah is likely to be a very warm favourite this year,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.
