Pharaoh Better than Horn

William Hill have released a market on which horse will be rated higher - Derby winner Golden Horn or US Triple Crown victor American Pharoah.

American Pharoah is odds-on favourite with William Hill at 1/2 to receive a higher international rating in 2015 than Golden Horn (according to the LONGINES World’s Best Racehorse Rankings). Golden Horn is the 2/1 outsider, while a draw where both horses receive the same rating is a 7/1 chance.

Currently, Golden Horn has been given a provisional rating of 125 and American Pharoah is on 124, but the latter’s efforts in the Preakness and Belmont had not been considered at that stage. The next announcement is on the 11th June.

“There is a Derby winner at Epsom every year, whereas the world has waited 37 years to witness a US Triple Crown triumph. On that basis American Pharoah looks odds-on to be the higher rated horse,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Meanwhile, William Hill have also priced up odds for when there will be another US Triple Crown winner. It’s 10/1 with William Hill for a follow-up next year with a 2016 Triple Crown winner, while it’s 7/4 that there is another by 2020 (inclusive).
