Pellegrini’s Last Derby? Who Will Join Him Out Of City At The End Of Season? Who Gets Bragging Rights?
Manchester City go into their away match against their local rivals knowing that the future of their manager is all but decided. After a week that saw Pellegrini’s odds tumble from 9/4 to 11/8 favouritism to be the next manager to leave, William Hill are offering just 1/5 that he has left City by the time next season kicks off.
Carlo Ancelotti is the 5/4 favourite to be the next Manchester City boss with Rafa Benitez the 5/1 second favourite.
“As with Roberto Mancini, City have taken a backward step the year after winning the Premier League title and it is all but certain that Manuel Pellegrini will be off in the summer,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
There could be other big names leaving the Etihad this close season with Yaya Toure an 11/10 shot to exit City during the summer transfer window while Aguero is 13/8 to do so and Vincent Kompany 11/4.
There is no doubting that Sunday’s game will have a huge bearing on who earns bragging rights come the end of the season and despite City currently sitting one point behind Manchester United in the table, it is City who are the 4/7 favourites to finish higher in the table this season – United are 5/4.
Both sides are 17/10 to win Sunday’s game with the draw 21/10.
“Both sides have little chance of lifting the Premier League title yet they still have the bragging rights to fight for and while United have taken large strides in looking back to their best in recent weeks, they still look like they will fall short of finishing above their rivals,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
After a tricky start to the season, Louis van Gaal is slowly winning over his detractors and he is just 2/1 to win the Premier League title as manager of Manchester United.
