Osborne Second Favourite To Be Next PM

GEORGE OSBORNE is now second favourite to succeed David Cameron as both Tory Leader and Prime Minister with bookmakers William Hill, who have cut him from 7/2 to 3/1 to be next Tory leader, making him second only to Boris Johnson, who has been lengthened from 2/1 to 5/2 favourite.

And Hills also make Osborne 4/1 second favourite (from 5/1) - again only behind 11/4 favourite Boris - to be the next Prime Minister.

Hills have now opened a book on who will stay in their current position the longer - Prime Minister David Cameron, or Chancellor George Osborne - and they offer 6/5 that Osborne will remain Chancellor for longer than Cameron remains PM; 11/4 that the PM stays in his position longer than the Chancellor; and 6/4 that they both leave their respective roles at the same time.

'Mr Osborne was quoted at double figure odds to be next Tory leader prior to the General Election, but since the Party won an overall majority his odds have consistently shortened and he is now the closest rival in the betting both to be next leader and next PM to long-standing favourite Boris Johnson' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
