By George, Osborne Less Likely To Be Leader?

GEORGE OSBORNE'S chances of becoming the next elected Tory leader and the next Prime Minister have taken a hit as a result of the Lords' tax credits vote, say bookmakers William Hill, who have lengthened his odds of becoming leader from 11/8 to 6/4, and of being the next PM from 13/8 to 7/4.

'Mr Osborne remains favourite for both positions and his current discomfort may soon be forgotten, but there is some way to go in both categories and he will need to re-establish his credentials quickly before rivals like Boris Johnson, whose odds we have shortened, take advantage.' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.

Hills have cut Boris' odds from 4/1 to 7/2 to be the next Tory leader, and from 5/1 to 9/2 to be next PM.
