Newcastle: Carver Until End Of Season… Could Moyes Take Over?

Confusion surrounded the future of John Carver after he allegedly tendered his resignation on Monday, however he remains in charge of Newcastle and is 2/9 with William Hill to still be there on the final day of the season.

Steve McClaren is the 1/5 favourite to be named as the next Newcastle manager with David Moyes’ odds tumbling from 16/1 to 6/1, making him second favourite, in the last 24 hours.

Newcastle are 9/2 to be relegated having been as long as 100/1 just three weeks ago.

“Newcastle have struggled in recent weeks but the odds suggest that they may just stay up by the skin of their teeth and do so with John Carver at the helm,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “We expect a new manager to be in charge come the start of next season and while Steve McClaren looks the most likely, David Moyes’ odds have tumbled significantly in the last 24 hours.”
