New One Odds-On For Season Opener

The New One is a rock solid 1-5 favourite with the sponsor for this Sunday’s Hurdle at Kempton Park.

The returning star from Nigel Twiston-Davies’ yard is back on the campaign trail after going unbeaten last season only to come up short in the Champion Hurdle, finishing fifth behind Faugheen.

The New One is 16-1 to win the Champion Hurdle in March, but his season opener is unlikely to be as stern a test, given that he is rated 24lb or more above the opposition in Sunday’s race.

“The hurdle looks primed for The New One to record a third victory in the race,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke. “While there may be a bit of rustiness after the summer break, The New One should have far too much class for the opposition on Sunday.” Hurdle: 1-5 The New One, 7-1 Stephanie Frances, 8-1 Rayvin Black, 10-1 Hint Of Mint, 40-1 Mr Lando, 100-1 Hold The Bucks, Red Riverman, 150-1 Landscape, (EW ¼ Odds Places 1,2 – if all 8 run each way terms will be 1/5 odds 1,2,3)

Champion Hurdle: Evens Faugheen, 7-1 Douvan, 9-1 Arctic Fire, 10-1 Peace And Co, 14-1 My Tent Or Yours, 16-1 Nichols Canyon, The New One, Top Notch, 33-1 All Yours, (EW ¼ Odds Places 1,2,3)
