Mourinho Odds On For The First Time To Be Next Manager Out

On the eve of Chelsea’s match against Liverpool, Jose Mourinho has, for the first time, become odds on to be the next Premier League manager to leave his job. His odds have tumbled since the start of the season when he was 66/1 with William Hill and following the early departures of Advocaat and Brendan Rodgers, it now looks like Mourinho (who is 5/6) will be the next to go.

It is looking increasingly likely that the Liverpool game will be instrumental in determining Mourinho’s future and Britain’s biggest bookie offer 11/2 that he has left Chelsea by midnight on Sunday.

“Mourinho’s Chelsea have officially had a worse start to the season than David Moyes did at Manchester United and his tenure was deemed a failure,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “With Chelsea already having drifted from 13/8 to 33/1 to lift the title in just three months, a change of management may well be on the cards so that this season doesn’t turn into the same.”

Should he depart, it is his old nemesis, Pep Guardiola who heads the betting to replace him at 9/4, with Diego Simeone 6/1 and former Blues bosses Carlio Ancelotti and Guus Hiddink both 10/1.

Mourinho’s recent behaviour has very much reflected the pickle that he currently finds himself in and he is 20/1 to be once again sent to the stands this weekend against Liverpool, whose manager Jurgen Klopp is still looking for his first league victory. It is 11/4 that Liverpool bag three points at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, while it is more likely (4/5) that their first maximum haul comes a week later at home to Crystal Palace.
