Matildas outsiders to take down defending champions

The Matildas will renew the rivalry with Asian Football Confederation counterparts Japan on Sunday morning (AEST), after the defending champions took down Netherlands 2-1 today.

Despite only just holding on to beat the Dutch, the Japanese start as firm $1.90 favourites with online bookmaker to win the Quarter-Final.

“In saying that, there was some very questionable defence and goal keeping from the Japanese today, so here’s hoping Lisa De Vanna, Kyah Simon or any of our girls can net a couple to keep the World Cup dream alive in Canada.”

The Matilda’s are $14 take out the tournament.

Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00am AEST on Sunday.
