Matilda’s waltzing to World Cup glory?

Having shocked the globe and disposed of World Cup favourites Brazil, the Matilda’s could now very well be waltzing their way to World Cup glory.

Kyah Simon’s goal sealed the first ever knockout-stage victory for any senior Australia team at a World Cup and also saw the Matilda’s odds slashed with online bookmaker

“The Matilda’s were $41 outsiders after losing in the first round to the USA and $29 prior to taking down soccer’s samba queens,” said William Hill’s Tim Ashworth.

“They’re now in to $12 and having just beaten the best in the world. Anything can happen from here.”

They now take on the winner of defending champions Japan and the Netherlands on Sunday morning (AEST). The goal from Kyah Simon was the first time the Brazilian’s had conceded in the tournament.
