Lucida Trimmed for 1000 Guineas

William Hill have shortened Lucida to 4-1 favourite from 9-2 for Sunday’s Qipco 1000 Guineas and she stands to be the worst result for the bookmakers. The Jim Bolger-trained filly was only fifth of seven in the Fillies’ Mile but it is not deterring punters.

“Lucida is the worst result for William Hill and it looks like punters are willing to overlook her last run in the Fillies’ Mile,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.

Fadhayyil is the nearest challenger in the betting at odds of 6-1. Barry Hills has trained the winner of the race twice before, in 1978 with Enstone Spark and more recently with Ghanaati, exactly 6 years ago.

Richard Hannon’s Tiggy Wiggy has been backed at longer odds of 25-1 and William Hill cut her overnight to 20-1.
