Just 0.5% Of Punters Predict Leicester Top Six Finish

Before the season started, William Hill offered £50m to anyone who could predict the Premier League table from top to bottom and it is proving tricky for most given the unpredictable nature of this year’s competition.

Just 0.5% of all bets in the Prem Predictor position Leicester anywhere in the top six of the Premier League with 46 bets backing them to finish top and 90 for the second spot that they currently occupy. Conversely, 3.4% backed Leicester to finish bottom and 18% of all Predictors had the Foxes in the bottom three.

Chelsea on the other hand were the most popular selection to finish top with 37% predicting that Mourinho’s cohorts would run away with the title again. Instead, just 1.4% tipped them to finish 14th (which they currently occupy) or lower.

“There is a long way to go in the season although Leicester have so far exceeded expectations while Chelsea have vastly underperformed,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “This is highlighted by the fact that so few people predicted that the pair would be where they currently are come the end of the season.”

Leicester finishing position: 66/1 winner; 8/1 2nd – 4th; 1/4 5th – 10th; 4/1 11th – 20th

Chelsea finishing position: 40/1 winner; 5/1 2nd – 4th; 1/4 5th – 10th; 8/1 11th – 20th
