Jezki Backed for Next Year's Cheltenham

After another thrilling battle between Jezki and Hurricane Fly, it was Jessie Harrington’s seven-year-old who won the World Series Hurdle at Punchestown. William Hill installed Jezki at 12/1 for the Cheltenham World Hurdle immediately after winning at Punchestown, but it was snapped up by punters, with Hills now offering 8/1. Hurricane Fly gave chase in behind and is unchanged at 20/1 for next year’s World Hurdle.

Jezki was a very small loser for the bookies, but nowhere near the payout levels if Hurricane Fly had won. If ‘The Fly’ had been victorious, it would have cost William Hill in excess of £200k.

“While we lost money paying out on Jezki, it felt like a win for the bookies as Hurricane Fly would have left us reeling,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.
