International Honours For Old Guard

Old Guard is 20-1 for the Champion Hurdle after winning the International Hurdle. Paul Nicholls’ hurdler has now won three races in a row. Sempre Medici also ran a big race to finish second and has also been included at 20-1 in William Hill’s Champion Hurdle list.

The favourite Peace And Co was very keen in the early stages and pulled his way to the front before dropping away tamely in the closing stages. He is out to 10-1 from 8-1 with William Hill.

“It was disappointing from Peace And Co but he was far too keen for his own good. We’ve pushed him out slightly for the Champion Hurdle, but you would think he has better performances in him this season,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.
